MICRO ANALYST

PART 1

To enable the below workflow we will need support from the Micro team. The Certification Analysis will need Analyst to be able to search for job postings that contain a Certification tagged and ignore all job postings matching the search criteria that contain no certifications. This is not something that our API’s currently support.

PI4 Release would just be the changes made by Micro to enable the workflow but no actual work will be done in Analyst for this in PI4 as we are focusing on Alumni Pathways.

Customer/User Job-to-be-Done or Problem

As an institutional researcher, I need to understand what certificates are most in demand and how that changes by industry, region, and occupation.

When designing microcredentials, my goal as an institutional researcher is to align them with industry, regional, and occupational certificate demand. However, I currently face a significant obstacle because the data and signals on certificates in Analyst are extremely limited. Therefore, I need a more effective way to access comprehensive and relevant data that will inform my microcredential design decisions. This will help me design microcredentials that are in high demand and aligned with industry needs, ultimately increasing their value for students and improving their career outcomes.

When [user situation/context/mindset], I want to [user need/goal], so I can [expected result/outcome].

Value to Customers & Users

It is extremely difficult for users to find any information on certificates in Analyst. The data that currently exists is mixed with skills data making it extremely difficult to find any signals about certificates themselves. Users also have to find certificate data by asking questions through job posting reports which makes it harder to ask the questions they want and also understand

Value to Lightcast

Adding a specific and easy to use workflow about certificates will add value to the Analyst platform and for all 3 BU’s while also potentially increasing new sale opportunities.

Target User Role/Client/Client Category

Institutional Researchers and EDU personas will be the primary focus but I will be collaborating with PM’s from Talent and CI to make sure this is useful for all BU’s and their target personas if possible.

Delivery Mechanism

Through the Analyst platform.

Success Criteria & Metrics

Users will be able to quickly and easily answer questions about certification demand region, industry, or occupation.

Aspects that are out of scope (of this phase)

We will not be making any changes to our certificate data or requesting any changes or improvements be made to it.

Solution Description

Early UX (wireframes or mockups)

Non-Functional Attributes & Usage Projections

Over the first 3 months, I anticipate at least 4000 report views. This would put the Certification Analysis on part with the Hot and Cold Skills Report in Analyst. This would be EDU only usage and does not account for CI or Talent usage.

I also project that 20% of users who run the Certification Analysis within the first 3 months will return and use it again at least once in the 90 days following their initial usage.

Dependencies

No dependencies.

Legal and Ethical Considerations

Just answer yes or no.

Have you thought through these considerations (e.g. data privacy) and raised any potential concerns with the Legal team?

High-Level Rollout Strategies

  • In advance of rollout brief marketing on feature and use case to evaluate if we should prepare marketing collateral around the new use case and functionality.

  • Initial rollout to internal Customer Success and Sales teams in Education to prepare them on how to train or communicate this to existing users and how to pitch this to potential customers.

  • The feature will be released for all users across all BU’s.

    • Coordinate the release of the feature with a Pendo announcement that will include a short video communicating what the feature is and how we would recommend using it.

    • Will also check with Customer Success and see if this is something they think should get included in the next webinar after the feature release.

  • Monitor feature usage and any feedback from users.

Risks

Focus on risks unique to this feature, not overall delivery/execution risks.
